Thorpes Bush entrance upgrade
The entrance to Thorp Bush is looking very inviting, with the two sentinels (pou) welcoming visitors, a couple of picnic tables, and three display panels which provide information on the significance of the Bush to Maori, its ecology, and its history since European settlement.
KMB members have contributed the last two of these panels, and we are very pleased with how they’ve turned out (sincere thanks to Image Creators for all their work).
Actually, the whole project to develop the entrance has been a collaborative exercise. The Motueka Youth Council took the initiative with the original proposal; Motueka Community Board has supported the project with funds and in other ways; KMB has contributed two of the display panels; the tangata whenua, NRAIT, have been engaged in the project in numerous ways; and of course TDC’s Parks & Reserves staff have overseen design and construction.
Thorp Bush is well worth a visit on one of your walks to get extra-bubble exercise, or after a visit to the supermarket. Do go and take a look, study the display panels, and rest a while at one of the picnic tables!
